Bill Donovan is a man with a problem. As the frontman of Donovan's Delights Entertainment traveling carnival, the season started off pretty much like every other traveling season. That was, until the cancellations started. What began as a normal season of bringing excitement to communities along the route ends up being a summer short on locations and long on bills to pay. With the concern of taking care of his responsibilities, namely his employees, as well as his own family, he feels the pressure. Everything looks bleak until the mayor of a town that no one has heard of calls him out of the blue, with an offer Bill can't refuse.
