Second marriage family drama in the Heartland
As Christmas ends and snow blankets Elm Grove, Nebraska, widow Harriet Anderson, owner of Main Street Antiques, faces yet another life-changing choice. She has agreed to marry her accountant, Len Huston. A widower, Len has been courting her for two years.
When Len’s daughter, Sarah, learns of her father’s plan to marry Harriet she begins a campaign to end their Valentine’s Day wedding plans. Harriet, encouraged by Len, ignores Sarah’s protests. Then Sarah’s husband dies suddenly and Sarah’s reaction to her philandering husband’s death along with her problem son’s response to the loss of his father escalates Sarah’s resistance to Len and Harriet’s marriage. She begins to make unrealistic demands of her father.
Harriet and Len continue their plans to marry, but other problems arise. Sarah’s difficult son disappears, and Harriet’s friend who plans to manage the antique shop during Harriet and Len’s honeymoon develops pneumonia. Will Len and Harriet live in his house or her apartment? And will her cat, Gray Boy, and Len’s dog, Ginger, tolerate one another? Even more important, will Sarah finally accept Harriet as part of the family?
