Blood Feast: The Complete Short Stories of Malika Moustadraf

Moroccan writer Malika Moustadraf retains cult status in Moroccan literary and feminist circles for her uncompromisingly gritty and troubling short fiction of life on the margins, as well as her stark interrogation of gender and sexuality in contemporary North African life. The stories that make up the core of Blood Feast were published as her second, and last, book; the collection was published just two years before her untimely death. Published in English for the first time, Blood Feast contains the complete stories by the author, including four additional stories published posthumously in a literary journal in Casablanca.
Blood Feast joins the literary trend of rediscovering lost writers, particularly lost women writers of color. To be granted the rights for English-language publication, translator Alice Guthrie embarked on an international quest to hunt down Moustadraf’s friends, acquaintances, and publishers, to prevent this work from disappearing forever.
