Every year, during the month of October, artists participate in a world-wide social event called Inktober, created by Jake Parker in 2009. The movement encourages artists to create art every day during the whole month; a total of 31 drawings traditionally made in black and white line art. In 2019, James Art Ville participated for a second time.

Instead of adhering to the official Inktober daily prompts, he chose to follow the themed calendar based on The Legend of Zelda video game series, aptly called Linktober. Each daily illustration was inspired by a single word. This would range from a specific character, location, or concept. Fans of the series will see drawings that reference many games throughout the franchise, from the earliest 2D classics to the more recent open-world entries that redefined the conventions of Zelda.

This book was made by a Zelda fan for Zelda fans! But even if you are not familiar with the series, it is James' hope that everyone can still enjoy the deep lore of these fantastical characters and stories. At the very least he hopes the drawings are enough to warrant a thumbs up! As a bonus, James includes dozens of additional Zelda drawings he's made over the years.
