Dona M. Davis, M.Ed. is a certified Life Coach, best selling published author and former special education teacher. She has taught in the public school systems of New Jersey, Delaware and Pennsylvania.

While teaching the job readiness class in a vocational training school in Pennsylvania I wrote my curriculum and my first book Tips From Your Job Coach, a strategic guide for employment seekers . I developed my own system to assist first time job (my students), and some of them reported their parents used their homework assignments to look for work!

I’ve always known I wanted to teach school. Growing up my friends would play school and I would always be elected to be the teacher. I love teaching people how to do one thing or the other.

The average adult will change jobs at least 22 times during their lifetime. Having had at least that many jobs, I began my professional teaching career soon after graduating from the University of Pittsburgh with a B.S. degree in Elementary Education. I was only 19 years old at the time and was turned down for vacant teaching position due to my young age. You need to be at least 21 years old to teach school in Pennsylvania. Determined to teach I used a very unconventional method to land my first professional position. I used the Yellow Page Telephone Directory.

Her second book, Hot Mama In High Heels, Daily Tips To Rock Your World As A Woman is a collaborative work compiled by Christine Marmoy. Every single soul in this book shares how much in the dark they once were…how far they went to try and hide, to be as small and insignificant as possible. So small, in fact, that they couldn’t even hold onto the little space they had allowed themselves to inhabit in their world. That is until finally the Universe could no longer accept this situation. It gave them a fierce shaking and dusting down to make them realize that life is not about hiding, about being like everybody else or whatever you were perceived as being; it’s not about complaining, about victimization BUT rather about shining, about standing up, about believing in yourself, about inhabiting that big place in the world, about being YOURSELF. You will find Dona’s chapter on page 34.
