Ivan’s sister Anna had miraculously survived the Nazi occupation of the war. Her hero was a young German doctor who had been forced to join the Wehrmacht and was later captured by the conquering Russian Army during the Nazi retreat from the lower Russian territory.Anna thinks that all her family had been killed until after the war had ended when her brother Ivan, who was living in America, discovers her.
