The Future of Black: Afrofuturism, Black Comics, and Superhero Poetry

Here is an anthology that can be shelved with the comics as well as in the poetry section. Comics characters-and futurism-have become increasingly prominent subjects for Black poets, in particular in the years following the expansion of Marvel and the runaway success of Black Panther. This anthology’s editors have assembled some of the very best examples of this poetry and paired them with prominent artists whose work will parallel and speak to the content of the text.
