The love saga Absurdities of Oblivion tells of blood-related lovers. Separated as children, they later meet by chance. This powerful psychoanalytical study of their struggle in an absurd world establishes identity and making one’s place in society.

The novel deals with the theme of existentialism, exploring life with a threadbare approach to human values. Above all barriers of caste, creed, and religion, it preaches communal harmony with its secular outlook.

The novel shows that relations made upon human upon human kinship are sometimes more lasting than man-made artificial relations that stand on greed and self-interest. Man’s struggle for existence and the role of circumstances occurring in life are richly highlighted. The problems of uprooting, exile, and estrangement reach an exciting climax, particularly in the case of the lovers.

A retired English professor, H. L. Agnihotri is also a well-known Indian poet and fiction writer, having published 16 books in Hindi and English in India and abroad. He obtained master’s degrees in English, political science, and music (vocal), and became a member of both the academic council and faculties of languages at Panjabi University, Patiala in Punjab, India. The author was recently honored with the Dr. Radha Krishnan and Mother Teresa Gold Medals. The International Tamil University, Maryland (USA) conferred upon him the honorary title of doctor of letters. Dr. Agnihotri lives in Malerkotla, a historical city in Punjab.
