James Lyle, an associate for a high-profile financial attorney, is at the height of his personal and financial prosperity until he is arrested and convicted of several brutal murders. Narrowly escaping the finality of the electric chair, Lyle is condemned to the Price State Institute, hidden from proper society in the forests of New York, where he encounters an eccentric and menacing physician, Director Dr. Edward Holmes. Faced with torturous experiments under the guise of treatments, a mysterious and malevolent creature begins to stalk Lyle, forcing him to relive his traumatizing past while surfacing new fears. Lyle must fight against his mind as he tries to discern whether his torment is real or if he is going mad.
