This Greek Alphabet Primer is designed to introduce children ages 7-11 to the letters of the Greek alphabet. It teaches the Modern pronunciation that is used by the Orthodox Church, but the vocabulary words used for examples are taken from Biblical and liturgical Greek. The goal is to prepare children and families to learn to understand Greek as it is read and sung in Orthodox church services. But since Greeks pronounce Ancient, Biblical, and Medieval texts in the same way that they speak their own modern tongue, families will be able to use these resources to how to pronounce Modern Greek as well.Each of the 24 letter chapters contains: - a short introduction to the pronunciation and writing of the letter- an illustration of the shape of the uppercase letter with a pictureof a word beginning with that letter- a story of a saint whose name begins with the letter- an icon coloring page of that saint- a copywork page containing the name of the letter, the wordillustrating the letter, and the name of the saint
