Une fois la reticence depassee, l'enfant accepte de porter un masque colore fabrique par sa mere et demande a apprendre a coudre elle aussi. Elle souhaite confectionner un masque pour son grand-pere qui, touche par le geste, la serre dans ses bras a son retour d'une garde fatigante a l'hopital.
