My father and father in law were both members of the Greatest Generation. They were both in the Navy and served in the Pacific Theater. I know very little of what they did during WWII. With that in mind, I wanted to get my story on paper for my children and grandchildren. I had kept a daily calendar while in Vietnam and for a couple of years before and after as well. That calendar was the basis of most of the stories included in the book regarding Vietnam and some of the training leading up to my deployment. Rather than limit my story to just Vietnam I decided to treat the book as sort of an autobiography. Thus, I began with some of my early recollections of growing up in Atlanta, Georgia. For most of the material recounting my early childhood, elementary school, high school and college years I depended on my memory such as it is! Much has happened since my return from Vietnam and with that in mind I’m already considering a second book.
