Most people prefer to do what most interests us in life. Sharing our interests and taking an interest in others makes us even more interesting. This book shows Cal making a board game and Ada making an outdoor ball toss game. They both want to play their own game with each other. See how they cope with this conundrum. Will they argue and not play any game? Will they negotiate and find a way to work out their differences of opinion about whose game is the most interesting? Read book nineteen of the 'I Feel... When...' series to find ways to share your interests with others. You will also be given simple patterns for making your own interesting game and activity. Sharing our own interests and moving on to other fun activities can be more fun for everyone. The monster within all of us can learn from Cal and Ada.

This book is just one of the 'I Feel ... When ...' books that demonstrates how to cope with a range of emotions. Seeing it outside of our own lives gives us tools to get a good perspective on how we might deal with these feelings in our life. Nonviolent communication is used as in our YouTube channel 'Dealing with Feelings' by psychotherapist Dr. Jim Porter and Karen Porter in their weekly show 'Feeling Fridays'. The husband-and-wife team invites you to explore feelings with your young reader as they begin to read. See how these furry friends learn appropriate ways to express feelings and solve problems by coping with their feelings through listening to one another and observing each other without judgement, expressing feelings and needs, and coping with feelings in compassionate helpful ways.

Many of the words in the book are basic sight words. Sight words are a subset of high-frequency words that do not sound the way they are spelled and are therefore not easily learned. Identifying these words and then finding them in the story will build literacy. Using words that students are familiar with helps them build fluency and flow as they read. Teaching students to memorize these words, by sight, helps them read faster with confidence. As you read through this series the young reader can develop mastery of all the sight words and words to express feelings.
