Gathered in this zine is the writing and artwork created by participants of DSTL Arts’s Conchas y Cafe creative writing classes for adults. Through poetry and short fiction, drawings and photo composition, these workshops empower participants as the artists they are, helping them develop new skills in storytelling.

The theme for Conchas y Cafe Zine; Volume 7, Issue 1: Alimento Sagrado is Food. Through poetry and writings that explore our relationship with food, we visit new and old forms of poetry and writing, from the contemporary Cento Poem to the classic Sestina. Through food, we discover that our cultural and spiritual understanding of life and love centers on a good meal.
