Eric Bloodworth, a commander of a guided missile cruiser of the United States’ wet Navy, is selected to captain a star-ship. He becomes part of the newly formed star fleet comprised of several space ships given to Earth by the Katz, an ancient alien race. These warships are about a mile long with the fire power to level any city on Earth and are used by the Katz in their war with the Xones, a race bent on killing all intelligent life they encounter, whether a threat or not. The Katz, no longer having the will to pursue the war, hope the younger, more aggressive race will prevail against the approaching horde.
Out of his element, Captain Bloodworth has to learn how to operate the warship in space and formulate tactics that will defeat the Xones. His crew members are from every major country on Earth. They are taught a Universal language that everyone aboard the ships uses, including the Katz.
Another initially disturbing problem…the Katz aliens are a matriarch society. Every position of authority is held by females. Most of his crew are female and hold the majority of department head positions.
Will Eric be able to pull his crew together to make a working machine when everything is unfamiliar, or will it all fall apart and evil prevail?
