Through Jemina’s Eyes: Experiencing God in the Wilderness

I am Jemina, a Hebrew, one of God’s chosen people…so I’ve believed. I was born in Egypt and have lived here all my life. Slavery is all that I have known. Well, slavery, and the promises passed down through the generations of my people; the promises that our God will one day take us to the land He first revealed to our ancestor, Abraham. Now grown with a family of my own, I long for those promises of freedom to be fulfilled. My parents and grandparents believed they were true, and they passed them down to my family. Now, something amazing is happening among our people; a man named Moses has arrived and is telling us that our God is going to fulfill those promises by taking us out of Egypt!What does that mean? There must be over a million of us by now! How can that be possible? Where exactly is this Promised Land and how will we get there? How will we manage with our children and our belongings on such a journey?
