Being a Black person in today’s world is often met with suspicion, fear, and despise. In the United States, this perception has worsened over the years as a result of slavery, segregation, and the subtle discrimination that American society is still fighting against. Yet, throughout human history, Black people have contributed and continue to contribute in various ways to the history of the world and American society. In spite of the challenges they daily face, Black people never give up on maximizing their potential and making a positive impact in their community. That is the case of Professor Spencer H. Boyer, an eminent African American lawyer, whose life experiences, and pride in his origins, race, and culture make him a role model for me, for Black people not only in the U.S.A but equally all over the world.
That Father/Son relationship has allowed me to have an open-mind on the value of the Black Man worldwide. Prejudices, intimidations and frustrations endured by the Black community since the period of slavery, and the colonization of Africa, will never discourage me. The inauguration of Dr Martin Luther King Jr. monument and, the African American History Museum in the heart of Washington, D .C. have galvanized me tremendously and removed doubts I held for many years, until my arrival in United States of America, I did not have the chance to know of great inventions made by the black community.
