It is a time of prohibition, and bootlegging. Small time crooks roam the state looking for easy money. People are thrown out of work and wages fall to a dollar a day.

Newlyweds Aaron and Ardyce Stroud are devastated by the death of Aaron’s father Reuben. The new bridge being built in Lansing, Michigan collapses killing six people. Going through his father’s personal papers Aaron is stunned to find a deed to a farm in Lincoln County, Wisconsin. The couple decide to take a road trip to see the property.

The couple discover the farm is actually an apple orchard and a cider mill. They are befriended by new neighbors, Jake and Lilly Teeters. As they begin operation of the first crop of apples, the stock market crashes sending the nation into a depression.

With the help of new friends and neighbors Aaron and Ardyce decide to stay on and build a future with their first child, Reuben, named after Aaron’s father.

Follow their adventures as the young couple make their way through a turbulent time in history.
