This first volume of commentary represents my initial attempt to provide one lay member’s perspective on latter-day revelation. For me, the effort to express my thoughts on paper is representative of the life-long effort that a study of The Doctrine & Covenants should be.

This book does not pretend to offer any earth-shaking insights into the revelations. As a matter of fact, its objective is to do just the opposite; to stimulate further inquiry that might result in far more spectacular personal inspiration. If anything within its pages helps you to fall asleep more easily, dream more pointedly, or awaken more refreshed, or if it contributes to your learning, leading, lifting, laughing, loving, or living, it will have fulfilled its purpose.
