Siberian Ghosts

Afshin Rad

In the oppressive era of Stalin's reign, millions of human lives were tragically lost as a result of the ruling party's harsh and disturbing policies, including the politicians and intellectuals of society and the ordinary individuals whose primary focus revolved around securing food and meeting their daily necessities. The economic laws and reforms implemented by the party across the country were flawed and led to economic collapse and famine. However, similar to other autocratic governments, the rulers refused to acknowledge their frequent mistakes and failures. Instead of making amends, they relied on deceitful tactics and propaganda, consistently defending the same principles and values that had inflicted immense suffering and hardship upon their people. This aspect is crucial in all political systems and structures that are centered around a specific ideology and set of beliefs. This narrative tells the life story of an individual who, like many others, courageously endangered their life in pursuit of peace and freedom, while confronting a ruthless and oppressive regime. May his life and ideals serve as a guiding light for all individuals who endure hardship and strive for freedom.
