The protagonist, Wendy Goldberg is writing her dissertation on American’s who decide to do Aliya –permanently move to Israel from their homes and lives in the United States. Every year thousand make this same decision. This novel focuses on the Americans who have decided to return to Israel permanently. Why have they made this choice? Is life better in Israel? What would motivate them to leave the United States to live in Israel? Do they have any regrets? What are their lives like? What ties to the United States do their retain or give up?
