Mango Hill
Diana Hansen-Young
A lonely island mouse rescues two small kittens and a bunny during a terrible storm in Kahaluu and sets to work raising her little family under the Mango tree, teaching them gratitude and kindness. When an artist and her two girls move to the hill, the mouse realizes that she, too, has talent, and helps the artist finish her paintings by night. But their peaceful life on Mango Hill is threatened when she overhears the Centipede King and his army planning to take over the artist's house. Can Halau Mouse save her own little family, as well as the artist's? In 1988, Diana Hansen-Young, one of Hawaii's leading artists, created the warm and humorous Mango Hill series of books for children of all ages. Now in its fourth printing, Diana is bringing back the Mango Hill series for the grandchildren of the original readers (and any occasional grandma who feels nostalgic). Diana still writes and paints and often rises early to find her work mysteriously finished. She welcomes the occasional painted pawprint, the strange smudge on her keyboard, and the tracks on the deck that lead to her kitchen door. . .
