A Very Reluctant Lady

The Honorable Alicia Deneham’s mother passed away at an age when she should have been learning how to flirt and polish those graces all debutantes aspire to secure a husband. Instead, she was learning how to breed thoroughbred race horses and excel at those talents polite society considered mannish. She had determined at a young age to protect her heart by never falling in love. If she ever wavered in her conviction, then the memory of her father’s inconsolable grief reminded her why the risk was too great. She had planned to live independently of any man, until circumstances forced her to join the marriage mart.

Now, in order to secure her future and protect her heart, she must marry for convenience, especially after sparks ignited between her and an infuriating and handsome American named Kevin Donahue.
