Early one Saturday morning, Kenzi slowly opened one blue eye and then the other, squinting and hiding from the sun as it streamed in through her bedroom window. After a nearby forest was burned the previous year, she and her family volunteer in their community’s first-ever reforestation project. When Juan-a new boy in the neighborhood-befriends Kenzi, they share their love of animals and work together to help with the rebuilding of the forest, realizing that every person’s effort counts.
