In high school, Jan attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts on Saturdays and for six months, after she temporarily dropped out of college, she was a student at the Gene Frankel Theater Workshop. She also studied Mime with Paul Curtis. (Jan went back to college, got her BA, MA, and Ph.D.). Her 62 published books, translated into 35 languages, include When Friendship Hurts (Simon & Schuster), Victims (Scribner's, reprinted by Hannacroix Creek Books), How to Promote Your Book (Square One Publishers), Help Yourself Now (Allworth Press, Skyhorse Publishing), the one-act play, "Please Don't Forget Me," and many others.
