Imperative Leadership: What Must Be Done for Students to Succeed

Imperative Leadership describes actions that must be taken by today’s school leaders to meet the demands of the rigorous standards of the Common Core. These leadership imperatives will create the best environment for students to compete against the best and the brightest of the world in the global economy of the 21st century and beyond. With the latest research and his own practical experience, the author explains four keys to imperative leadership. These keys, if implemented to their fullest extent, hold the potential to focus the highest-yielding solutions available to improve the educational results of students. The four keys are: prioritizing the standards, unwrapping the standards, employing common formative assessments, and using Data Teams initiatives that give school leaders the structures needed to improve student achievement in the face of the increasing challenges that educators continue to encounter.
