NAVAL WAR COLLEGE VAN BEUREN STUDIES IN LEADERSHIP AND ETHICS NO. 1
The John A. van Beuren Studies in Leadership and Ethics series of publications was established to advance scholarship and publish thought-provoking works of analysis in the fields of leadership and ethics, with special attention to their application to the military; to further CNO initiatives in leadership and ethics; to help educate Naval War College students; and to help inform the joint force. The Naval War College and the Naval War College Press thank the Alletta Morris McBean Charitable Trust for its generous support.
This book explores the operational, policy, and technical contributions of vice admiral Samuel L Gravely and his successors of African-American Admirals. In addition, the book captures the early hurdles encountered by the admiral's and how they successfully overcome these, in some cases, institutionalized hurdles. It ushers hope and faith in America as these patriots place their country above themselves and achieved great success - a wonderful lesson in American history
