The darlene sisters, Rosie and Verna, are girls on the loose in wild garb who can’t shake each other’s company. They don’t want you to ask about Earl; he is just an average guy who annoys them. Earl is the third wheel who always acts like a flat tire. And then there is Emma, who has them all wrapped around her little paw! The darlene sisters and Earl represent voices inside all of us, portraying situations, observations and day-to-day life experiences in humorous and zany but truthful ways that speak to a wide demographic of people. Born in Michigan, Jamie Wainright has traditional training in art with undergraduate and graduate school degrees. A successful career in fine arts and graphic design led to her current position as full-time Professor and Chairperson of the Art Department at Westfield State University in Westfield, Massachusetts. She was supported in her art career by both of her parents, and has been drawing the darlene sisters since childhood. Humor is a big part of Wainright’s family life. Stories for the sisters often stem from noticing the smallest event that someone else might overlook; a trip to the grocery store, or even the antics of the family dog. Jamie is greatly influenced by her two sons and a close-knit group of friends who are all huge fans of the darlene sisters. They are all so proud to see the girls published.
