No Room for Bullies: Lesson Plans for Grades 5-8

Every day in schools, acts of bullying take place - a 10-year-old is shunned by other girls during lunch, a 12-year-old boy fakes being sick so he doesn’t have to deal with a bully at school or a 13-year-old girl endures ridicule over a vicious rumour posted online. Whether bullying happens face-to-face or in the digital world, its effects are serious, harmful and in many cases devastating to the victims. These lesson plans guide teachers in addressing skill deficits with the key players (bully, victim and bystanders), examining the impacts of bullying and teaching methods for problem solving. An enclosed CD gives teachers reproducible copies of handouts, worksheets and skill posters to use in the classroom.
