Chadwick’s Symphonic Ballad is based upon Robert Burns’ poem of the same title. Composed in 1915 at a time when the US was on the brink of World War I, the work was viewed as an affirmation of America’s Anglo-Celtic heritage. The present score is a carefully restored reissue of the first edition issued by the Boston Music Co in 1917. Unlike so many of the on-demand scores now available, this one comes with all the pages and the images have been thoroughly checked to make sure it is readable. The large conductor score and orchestral parts are also available from Serenissima Music.
