The United Church of Christ was not the first to occupy the building that sits on Titus Avenue Across from the House of Guitars. It began as the home of the women’s suffragettes and people like Susan B Anthony and her sister at one time graced its halls. When it began it’s transition to a church, it was the congregational church that worshiped in its sanctuary. This later would become the United Church of Christ. So much has taken place in this building that had several additions added on to it over the years. From the changes on the outside, other changes would take place inside to help keep the building going. It’s size is massive as well as it’s history that is so embedded in the community of Irondequoit. Even the wall painting of Christ that appears behind the podium has its own interesting story. In this building you feel the presence of those who came before and you feel the presence of God. It is a place to worship and a place that we need to preserve for all generations to experience.
