I am Ka the falcon, and I soar high over mountain crags and bush. I see much, as have my ancestors since ancient times. My ancestors say Gondwanaland broke into smaller pieces and New Zealand’s outline began to take shape. We made our nests high in the hills of the Coromandel Peninsula where we watched the coming of the waaka of the Maori. We watched them hunt the moa for food. We saw the 2nd people arrive in their tall ships and watched Captain Cook study the planet Mercury. We saw friendships form and the outbreak of wars, trees felled and gold mined. Life doesn’t change much for the people of the land.
