After a winter recuperating from the arduous trip across the eastern United States, Tim DeMott, along with his family and companions are faced with the hard realities of remaining in their remote haven. Tenuous hope combined with the fear of a future-less existence for their children sets them back on the road. In Donner, the refugees streaming to their gates is fast leading toward crisis for Yen and Nala, who have filled the vacuum left by Tar and Daltry.
