Celebrating 750 years! This is a collection of studies on Thomas Aquinas' theology. EXPLORING THOMAS AQUINAS. ESSAYS AND SERMONS has essays by Marie-Dominique Chenu, Yves Congar, Jean-Pierre Torrell, Josaphat Pinto de Oliveira, and Walter Principe; these are followed by three sermons by Chenu, Edward Schillebeeckx, and Karl Rahner. These writings have been assembled and translated by Thomas O'Meara, O.P, who taught at the University of Notre Dame, Indiana for many years . The essays consider what was new in Aquinas' thinking in the thirteenth century, his view of Islam, his theology of the church, the influence of his theology just before, during, and after Vatican II, and a pioneering study of his theology as a spirituality.
Here theologians from recent years look at central themes so that this thinking from the past might illumine contemporary problems, questions, and ways of thinking.
