A cockatoo and a marine iguana live on a houseboat that is in desperate need of repair. They decide to try to become famous and settle on writing books as their best chance at this (ha!).

Kylie Howarth is passionate about marine life, and, as in many of her previous books, Kev and Trev features a big cast of sea creatures, both real and imagined. The miserable squid named Mr Happy and a pelican security guard who uses coconuts as cannonballs are sure to get some laughs.

As the critters get started on their book, they discuss how publishing works and several little stories within this book provide opportunity for lots of fun with words, including rhyming and puns. It’s all very silly and chaotic, but also quite cute on occasion. Fans of Real Pigeons will enjoy this book, it’s the first in a new series, and as well as being a fun read, it may inspire some story writing. For ages 7+.
