Amber Orolla didn't have any friends-at least, not on Earth. The only people there she knew were the ones who made fun of her, taunted her and annoyed her until she couldn't take it anymore.

Why couldn't she just be in Deepfloat with her real friends, where people actually liked her and she could have lots of fun and go on adventures?

But she knew she had to live her life on Earth, too, and when Max went missing at Amber's eleventh birthday party, she knew he'd stumbled upon her secret.

Amber must return to Deepfloat and do everything she can to find him and bring him back to Earth. Relying on her Deepfloat friends Kai, Mist, Mitzu, and Escester, the group hunt for the missing Max. But, even here, the people she thought she knew so well seem to be running away and keeping secrets from her.
