The volume focuses on ‘church’ (the ‘significant other’ to Jesus). Highlighting the Roman Imperial setting of the New Testament, and the common use of the word ‘ekklesia’ in that setting, he presents a case for understanding that the calling of the church was indeed political, in the sense of seeking to be an agent for the transformation of the world.
