Alan Westbrook is coerced, by MI5, into taking a job as special scientific adviser to the government, with a view to toning down their plans to avert global warming. Alan is not too sure about this, as his involvement with MI5 and the climate argument, had got him into no end of trouble in the past. But if he took the job, how was he going to convince members of the government that their policies were going to lead the country into disaster. What seemed like a pointless but harmless exercise, gradually turns into a nightmare situation for them. Will they be able to avert a major catastrophe, or will they fail miserably? And can they come out of all this in one piece? Who knows what ends these people will go to to get their way?
