During the First World War, approximately 15,600 West Indians signed up to the British West Indies Regiment, including men from Jamaica, Barbados, The Bahamas, Guyana, Belize, Grenada, the Leeward Islands, St Lucia, St Vincent, and Trinidad and Tobago. The play follows the story of a Grenadian soldier, Lazarus Emmanuel Lewis Francois, who left his tiny island in 1915 to fight for King and country. It is a play steeped in history, family, and the relationship we have with our ancestors and the past. The play weaves a tale rooted in fact but also uses poetic license to bring to life all the different characters. This book is written in the play/script format as written and performed by Kat Franc?ois.
