This title is printed to order. This book may have been self-published. If so, we cannot guarantee the quality of the content. In the main most books will have gone through the editing process however some may not. We therefore suggest that you be aware of this before ordering this book. If in doubt check either the author or publisher’s details as we are unable to accept any returns unless they are faulty. Please contact us if you have any questions.
The book is both a celebration and critique of the footballers - the personalities - who have starred in arguably the world's most compelling league over the last 29 years.
Using a broad range of books, newspapers, websites and archive footage, we have extracted accurate statistical data to enable us to write a balanced and engaging critique of the characters concerned. Whilst hard facts provide the basis of each player profile, opinion is also key. Interviews with the player in question, those who have worked with them, plus other eminent figures in the football world, provide a valuable insight into the psyche of each subject.
Each chapter is accompanied by a caricature which will enable the reader to identify with the player in a humorous way. Although football caricatures are not uncommon, the combination of football writing and caricature is a rarity. We believe that our formula fills a gap in the market and offers a fresh approach. It works well because our 'take' on each player is reflected by' and further brought to life, by its supporting caricature. Each chapter is also prefaced with an appropriate aphorism.
Although the book majors on the most prominent and exciting players from the elite clubs of the P.L., we have attempted to be all-inclusive by selecting talented and interesting characters from the less fashionable clubs too. The book also seeks to include some of the more quirky or controversial Premier League stars.
