Kofi Mensah, a seven-year-old, Year 2 primary schoolboy growing up in the little village of Kookookrom in Ghana, could hardly believe his eyes at the sight of a strange couple emerging from a vehicle that had just pulled to a stop in the middle of his village.
Out of curiosity, he decided to draw nearer to look at them.
The strange-looking humans had, in the meantime, headed for the foodstuff stalls built by the villagers to offer crops harvested on their farms for sale to occupants of the vehicles driving through the village.
As Kofi stared at the strangers, he could hardly imagine his little knowledge of the English language would play a vital role that day and help them purchase the foodstuffs they desired.
Kofi thought that was the end of the matter, but no. Indeed, a strange set of circumstances led to a series of meetings, culminating in an extraordinary encounter in the capital, Accra!
