"Read on and remember. You are all masters of time."
Established in 2016, the York Literary Review has recently been revived with the aim to provide a platform for writing produced in the ever-changing landscape of the world. The aim of the York Literary Review 2021 is to provide a glimpse of hope for the future amidst a current time that has been largely static.
When thinking of a theme for the 2021 edition of the York Literary Review, the team knew they couldn't ignore the current global circumstances but didn't want to focus solely on the negatives. This led to this year's theme of 'Time and Memory', which they hope will encourage people to reflect on past experiences and look forward to the future - considering both where we have come from and where we will go.
The anthology showcases the very best contemporary fiction, non-fiction and poetry, with a primary focus on showcasing the work of Northern talent. However, the anthology is a collection of writing from those closer to home and those further afield, which acts as an accurate and pertinent reflection of the city it is home to. The variety of pieces received has resulted in a wonderfully eclectic anthology that will intrigue and interest all who read it.
