It is a lovely, sunny spring day, Lucy and her Mum decide to have a picnic in the garden. Poppy the rag doll had not been in the garden before, she enjoys seeing the lovely flowers. Tom, the family cat, joins them and lays sleeping on the picnic rug. Suddenly dark clouds appear in the sky and it starts to rain. Lucy and her Mum hurriedly pack the picnic things away and Poppy gets pushed on top of the basket. On the way to the house Lucy’s Mum stumbles and Poppy falls out, she is lost and doesn’t know how to get home.
