The papers and letters of Mynors Farmar vividly recount the battles he was involved in both as a fighting soldier and staff officer from 1898 1918. From the Battle of Omdurman and throughout the First World War, Mynors Farmar took part in many of the major battles that dominated 1898 1918. His experience as both fighting soldier and staff officer are recounted in moving letters to his beloved wife Violet and their children. They not only show the strength of an individual’s spirit and capability but also the importance of the relationships formed over the years. These letters show how tirelessly the staff worked to provide for the men under their care. AUTHOR: Katherine Swinfen Eady is a professional artist and is married to Gareth Davies a retired Army Officer and Military Historian. Having trained at Edinburgh College of Art she has an established career as an oil painter in the Scottish Colourist tradition. Katherine has an MA in The History of Britain and the First World War from Wolverhampton with Distinction. Her previous publications include a Chapter on Brigade Staff for Gallipoli: New Perspectives on the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force 1915-16. 20 photographs, 4 maps
