Extensively researched biography of Colin Dunlop, Bishop of Jarrow, Dean of Lincoln, and, in the 1930s, Chaplain in Baghdad. Written by Colin’s late son Francis Dunlop, the main source was the collection of very interesting personal journals Colin kept at various points in his life, a good many family letters to his wife and her guardian, and later to Francis, official correspondence in the Lambeth Palace Library, and articles he published in various church papers, parish and diocesan magazines, etc. Francis’s chief aim was to try to give a rounded portrait of Colin as a man, but also to show what the life and work of a clergyman and dignitary involved, against the background of the early to mid twentieth century. Illustrated with over thirty photographs.
