Review

A beautiful adventure story about Isabella, who lives on the island of Joya, in a township under rule by a strict Governor. The townsfolk aren’t allowed into the forest that surrounds the town and haven’t seen the rest of the island in decades. Isabella is desperate to explore, as she has a fascination with the island’s mythical past (it once floated freely around the world) and finally gets the chance when her best friend runs off into the forest. It’s a big plot for a small book, Isabella is a likable protagonist and the descriptions of the island, itself a character, are lovely.
