In February 2023, a small group of penguins, forced to leave Antarctica due to the changing climate, found themselves a new home in the nooks and crannies of an old stone wall by the banks of the River Kelvin in the West End of Glasgow, Scotland's largest city. Written by one young penguin, this book documents their first year in a city they have come to know and love, and which, in turn, has come to know and love them.
Starting as an experimental guerilla art project, the Glasgow Penguins have rapidly become a firm favourite amongst the citizens of the West End of the city, as well as those who follow their antics from further afield. For the first time, this book brings together many of the pictures taken by the anonymous artist who created them for their social media accounts, and uses these photos to tell the story of a year in the lives of some of Glasgow's most unusual residents.
