1737: Letter from one William Cowper,

In 1708 …., there was discovered a large vault… the entire skeleton of a man…., with a book, paper, pen etc…, in another part of the room lay a cap; all much mouldered and decayed…. Which the family and others judged to be this Lord Lovel, whose exit has hitherto been so uncertain.

Were these the remains of Francis Viscount Lovel, friend and loyal retainer to King Richard IIIrd? One who was thought to have been killed at the Battle of East Stoke in 1487, an engagement,which finally brought to an end the Wars of the Roses?
