This book provides questions and answers for the first half of the grammar taught in Complete

Modern Chinese grammar - Beginner to Intermediate. The grammar is sufficient to pass HSK 1,

2 and 3. In addition, the main aim of this book is to get students to use Mandarin for both

speaking and writing. The methodology considers repetition as a core requisite to remember

and thus use Mandarin both effectively and accurately.

There are 70 units, and each unit contains relevant questions both directly pertaining to that unit

as well as previous ones. There is a constant focus on using newly obtained knowledge and

previous knowledge to build up a thorough understanding of how and when to use Mandarin.

Naturally, throughout the units, students should note that all the words that are taught are to

be learned, thus they can facilitate a reasonably robust vocabulary.

By the end of book 1, all students will have a solid foundation with which to increase knowledge

of basic Mandarin. Moreover, students will undoubtedly be able to communicate with native

Chinese people in a standard and practical way.
