Musicians profiled include established professional performers such as Martin Hayes, Frankie Gavin, Kevin Crawford, John Spillane, Sharon Shannon, Denis Liddy and Eoin O'Neil, contemporary traditional Irish groups such as Lunasa and Ceili bands, as well as young up and coming amateur players. The photographs in the book also capture the work of current traditional musical instrument makers, such as Uilleann Pipe maker Cillian O'Brien, flute makers such as Eamon Cotter and Bodhran makers such as Michael Vignoles, amongst others. In addition to portrait studies of the instruments, musicians and instrument makers, either in their own surroundings, playing live music or making musical instruments, the book includes biographical notes on the musician’s early interest in music and the history of the music and the instruments themselves.
